In the quiet of sky and mothers
and minutes of thin grass,
my thoughts, bordered by suns
become the dark flying feet of a god.
Bare trees bear the weather;
even the land grows hands.
My brain between states
in slow quick silver
questions its presence
like a turning dream of
shadow-blossoms and magnolia
trees, and the slow julep scent of hours.
